I teach four part time jobs as a college biology instructor. I can’t get a full time job for a variety of reasons, so I stick to adjunct work. Because I’m part time, I don’t get benefits. So I’ve had a private plan for three years. My plan is what I need, but it has gone up 30% since last year. In addition to that, I have to now pick a new plan with a higher deductible because they are getting rid of my plan. I’m single, a part time worker (oh, and my hours have been cut so employers don’t have to offer us insurance) and this is gettting ridiculous. I knew this would happen but when you actually start to feel the results its a different story. I feel pretty helpless. And I’m used to feeling pride in fixing my problems. We have no control.
