I am self employed and purchased Aetna Health Insurance for health coverage. About 1 year ago my insurance rates were increasing so I changed my plan to a higher deductible. In July 2012 I received a cancellation notice from Aetna. Aetna stated that due to the Obamacare law my insurance plan would no longer be offered in CA. I went to the CA exchange to view options. Aetna offers plan on the exchange for me however, the deductible went from $3500 annually to $5500 and my cost went from $253/mo to $486/mo. Ridiculous! As a self-employed person I cannot cover this drastic increase in premium. As an aside Obamacare should be call the “unaffordable healthcare act”.
