I just received a letter from Purdue Pharmaceutical taking away their Patients assistance charity program to help us uninsured poor and they state in the letter that it is due to Obamacare and then tell us how to apply for it. UGGGG! I called them and they send this cancelation letter to everyone in this program!!! I have to already go to a concierge doctor because the massive regulations that disparages doctors from even diagnosing my disease. My illness, because of govt, makes doctors a target to the govt. It will not affect this particular medicine for me, but if I need another off label unfordable medication, mostly off label meds for us unfortunatly, for those of us with this disease in the late stage and the overreaching regulation, intrusion of the federal govt in other ways we the poor feel it too.
I can tell you why the polling is showing uninsured are, as everyone else, disliking (being kind) this bill in large numbers. It is because we have had to go to them (Govt) for help and can’t get it unless you fit into a check box of their choosing and because of the experiences of having to fight them more than they help. We poor know how bad the govt is with all their programs because we actually have to use them. Most charities make you apply for every govt program and then prove you were turned down.
Most of the money they give for medical grants never go directly to those who need treatment or for actual studies and the poor know and feel it. It goes through rich peoples bank accounts and then dispersed among their friends and by the time the millions the “charity grants” from the govt. are dispersed we the poor may get a sandwich and nothing more. I paid into a private insurance and am glad I did because SS would not even look at me for 8 years even after 2 failed hip surgeries and 3 failed back surgeries. After 10 years of trying I am just able to start on Medicare. I hate doing it but if it weren’t for the govt my husband of 65 would still have his career and be making decent money for parts of the year.
I am an X-middle class person now poor due to the stupid cash for clunkers idea and then I got sick. This upending of the whole system is the stupidest way to help those of us affected by the lousy economy (Obama made even worse) and illness. I am tired of being the excuse for The president to use for this massive power-grab! I also am so tired of feeling guilty for even having to ask for help! I still try everyday to get better and am praying for Medicare can help me get rehab, which I could not afford before and was never referred before my ins ran out after the surgeries, but hoping Medicare will help. Who am I kidding…LOL. Medicare will probably not cover enough for me to afford the rehab, I also have to have another back surgery (Remove a device causing pain) but I would have to save $6700 to pay my out of pocket expenses on an expensive surgery such as this. Out of pocket was raised by $1500 from 2013-2014 and the surgery lost the copay and new costs (Also because of Obamascare). I will gladly send you the letter if you want me to do so.
