For true reform of health care to ever be real, the federal government needs to fix the two broken social medical institutions currently in place. Until we make Medicaid and Medicare work for the minority they serve, there is no reason for the American people to believe the same government can manage a program that serves the majority.
I have employees who cannot afford health insurance that will cover their entire family with insurance compliant to Obamacare. One in particular will spend two week’s wages every month to purchase enough medical insurance for his wife and three children to be compliant with Obamacare’s requirements. I cannot afford to pay for it for him either without reducing his salary. President Obama lied to small business when he promised us we wouldn’t be affected. Forcing the entire population into a higher cost of living affects small business and their employees, period.
My solution is to first repeal Obamacare, then reform Medicaid, Medicare and other related socially funded medical programs. Once you have stabilized these programs, find ways for those who need assistance getting medical insurance, to buy into Medicaid. Finally, look at the medical and pharmaceutical industries to see how we as a nation can bring the overall cost of health care down for the average citizen while preserving the industries’ profitability.
