I live in a small community in Kansas and many of our doctors have already retired or are retiring. I am afraid of the quality and availability of our healthcare here. In addition, I am afraid of what it will do Medicare. I am 66 and on Medicare. Already Medicare is paying less (and could discontinue payment) on certain healthcare procedures. I scrimp on some things so that I can pay a premium for supplemental health insurance. If those premiums increase, I don’t know what I will do. My supplemental insurance (BCBS Plan 65) will not pay unless Medicare pays first. If Medicare stops paying for certain healthcare procedures, I will not have insurance to cover those procedures. I am concerned for my children and grandchildren. All of my family are hard working, successful citizens. We are definitely not rich, but we take care of ourselves. We take care of necessities, pay our bills on time, and bypass “luxuries” if necessary. Obamacare was touted as though it is designed to help people like me and my family, but the harsh reality is that it will financially destroy us.
