We have been directly informed by Aetna that under the ACA, the health insurance premium for my two employees will double next year. Right now I provide excellent coverage to them and I pay the entire amount – costing $506.12/month for both health ($416) and dental ($90.12) insurance. If it doubles I will be forced to drop their coverage. This unnecessary regulation of the benefits I provide my employees is a huge overreach of the government. Further, the burden of documentation to the IRS of the benefits I provide is not insignificant. Enforcing compliance for the ACA is a terrible waste of resources, compared to the free market that would function naturally. If premium plans are taxed extra, premium technology will be discouraged and innovation in the health care industry will suffer.
