My story is as most of in America I have several pre-existing conditions and I am self employed which really works against me. I lost my health insurance due to divorce and only to find out when I was hospitalized with a severe asthma attack and pneumonia that my ex had cancelled my insurance which he was court ordered to keep and I would have gladly paid him the monthly premium in order to keep my insurance but he was being ugly.
I got thru that dilemma and applied for health insurance time after time only to be turned down due to my asthma and going thru the stress developed diabetes in the process. I finally got approved for Tenn-Care thru the State of Tenn which I paid a monthly premium and gladly only to have it cancelled by our new Governor due to the fact I was not bearing children and did not qualify any longer God only knows why.
I am self still self employed and applied for the Cover TN which is coverage for small businesses but is very minimal 00-coverage only $25,000 limit period and my meds cost me $1200 per month and I had to stop taking part of them I could not afford them.
I continued to apply for health insurance with no success without fail I have been paying my monthly premiums on Cover-TN for over 6-7 years now and I have been diagnosed with Lupus. When the horrifying news came that my Insurance was being cancelled December 31, 2013. Oct 1. 2013 I started trying to apply for Obama Care and as of this date December 19, 2013 I still have not had a response on my application and I will not have any health insurance as of December 31, 2013. I am 59 years and single I am self employed and facing losing my job anyday due to my health as well as other reason due the fact I am an Independent Insurance Appraiser.
Lupus is a terrible painful disease and I refuse to give in to it and God willing he has Blessed me I will get thru this. I need my health Insurance in Order to Keep my Doctors and to survive.
