I am a small business owner (not by choice) who was forced to start his own business due to our wonderful economy and a lay off from Kodak, My wife is a realtor who’s business went down to almost nothing. Being self employed she has no benefits and depended on my insurance with my former employer.
After our COBRA expired, we shopped the market and chose Blue Cross with a $3500 deductible to keep our premiums as low as possible.
With the creations of Obamacare, our premiums have increased two and three times a year. In the last year alone they have increased almost 30%, to the point that they now are higher than our mortgage payment. When we questioned the increase, we were told that it was mainly due to Obamacare.
We cannot continue to absorb the increase and unfortunately finding a job at age 62 with any meaningful benefits is close to impossible.
On top of this all our other taxes and expenses keep increasing, out pacing our available income.
