Fortunately our Founders had the foresight to secure checks and balances in our system to protect against this type of Presidential overreach; as Madison details in the Federalist Papers #57.

Right now our representative government IS operating as designed to allow a minority to force a compromise when faced with autocratic rule. While it was merely bad policy for Obama to pass major reform without a single vote from an opposition holding 47.2% support in the 2012 presidential election, the subsequent selective enforcement and modifications of the law by the Executive Branch are not legally within his powers.

There were legitimate alternatives. The scale of this endeavor warranted a debate on the foundational elements of HC Reform which might have actually benefited consumers such as opening competition across state lines or tort reform. Instead, the president invited this inevitable gridlock by single handedly rewriting one sixth of the economy and the personal care of everyday Americans without any support from the people’s representation across the aisle.

THANK YOU to all Senators and House Reps who have had the courage to stand-up for us rather than bow to the media’s pressure.

It’s interesting that even in an overwhelmingly Blue state such as RI local talk radio, usually favoring the Democrats, was flooded with calls challenging Obama’s tactics and leadership while refusing to exempt him from his role in the Gov’t shutdown.

Your message is resonating. Please keep up the good work.
