I work as a medical secretary for an indigent hospital. I can honestly say everything in this country has gone up except my paycheck. If we don’t get a raise in 2014 this will be the 5th year in a row that we have not had a raise, the same amount of time Obama has been in office. He said the recession is over, I don’t know what world he lives in. In my world this has caused me to file for bankruptcy this year, something I thought I would never have to do. I was wrong. Not only have I not had a raise in almost five years, in 2012 I had my hours cut to 25 hours a week. Due to the cut in my hours my portion of my health ins went from $ 67.00 a pay period to $185.00 for myself and my daughter. I could no longer afford the health ins my employer had to offer, so I did not renew my ins for 2013. Thank God we are healthy. My husband is a disable vet so his medical is taken care of through the VA.
