My child was born with Spina Bifida. She has been seen at A. I. Dupont Children’s Hosp. all of her life by fantastic Doctors, she’s seen in spinal dysfunction clinic. She is now 18 going on 19. Recently they created a new program called Transitional medicine. This was created because they realized many children with chronic cases or life long needs were being put out of the hosp at 21 to see new doctors who were unfamiliar with these cases. Transitional medicine was created to help us to find new doctors. As of now I have been unable to find new doctors for her to see because of obamacare. She requires a neurosurgeon, a neurologist, urologist, orthopedic, and a rehabilitation team. Many of the doctors I’ve contacted either are going concierge, retiring, they don’t accept the new SSI medicaid or they simply don’t handle chronic or ongoing cases, orthos only handling sports injurys, knee replacements and such. Or they simply don’t accept the form of insurance she currently has. As of now I have the transitional team asking ME for suggestions or leads I find for other patients! I’m in panic and scrambling myself just to find new doctors for her before she turns 21 and sadly I’m considering if I even should share names if I find them for fear of it being tougher for her to be seen? I myself have lost my own insurance, also because of Obamacare, apparently my insurance wasn’t what THEY want me to have. I also have to find her a new primary doctor before she’s 21 as well. My child has had this fantastic care all of her life, now I find myself in panic trying to assure she continues to get great care and her new doctors are able to consult with her current doctors before she is no longer eligible to be seen at Dupont. Please Please Please! I’m Begging the administration to forget the politics and Defund this nightmare of a program. It is unsustainable and more people are being harmed by this program then are being helped. It’s a Nightmare just as predicted! Obamacare needs to go! This President is more concerned about his legacy then the people of this country. The last thing the Gov’t should have their hand in is something as personal to the American people as their family’s health needs! Thank you Mr. Cruz for fighting for us as well as the many others who have been or are seeing the disaster this truly is.
