I’m a 49 year old, self employed seamstress and have purchased health insurance for myself for over 20 years. It has always been a major expense for me, but Obamacare has made it worse. I will now be paying a higher premium, higher deductible and more out of pocket expense. My current policy with BlueCross has monthly premium of $283.00, a $3500.00 deductible and 0%copay after the deductible is met. The new policy BC has offered for 2014, has a $316.00 premium ,$4000.00 deductible and a 40%copay after the deductible is met until I meet $6350 out of pocket. This is just getting too expensive for me. I’m paying more for less insurance. I may have to go without. I don’t qualify for a subsidy or tax credit to help pay for this because my income is too low, I don’t qualify for medicade, nor do I want to be dependent on medicade, I have worked hard to establish what I have. My state has not opened up medicade to everyone, nor should it, Nebraska is in better financial shape than many states and it is in the best interest of the states citizens that Nebraska remain fiscally sound.
