My insurance policy was going to be cancelled on 12/31/13 because it “didn’t meet the guidelines of Obamacare”. It was also going from $91 and month to $235 (over 100% increase just for me). I looked on the CA government site and it was $448 a month with a $5k dedeuctible (each) for me and my baby! I called my insurance company for help picking a new plan. I was able to find a slightly more affordable plan at $370 for both of us. I’m a stay at home mom and this additional $280 a month is hurting us badly. I cashed out my 401k to be able to make up the difference for a few years because normally we live paycheck to paycheck. I’m still looking for a job but am limited to when I can work because I am not going to put my newborn daughter in daycare. And me and my partner share one car. I’m backed into a financial corner. I’m supposed to stay within my means and live on a budget when the government doesn’t have to? It’s quite apparent that I don’t matter. This is a disaster and even though most Americans don’t want this, and never supported it, the President is taking us down with him just so he can push his own agenda. Other democrats blindly follow and support him and most republicans are too weak to stand up to him and hold their ground. It’s very disappointing to be an American right now with no one in Washington to support and represent us. I’m sad for what the future America will be like for my daughter.
