As a 71 yr old retired teacher of IL., I had a great retirement plan through TRS. This supplement paid for everything that Medicare did not! No copay, no out of pocket expenses and a discount on prescriptions. Since ACA, TRIP is no longer available. We are being forced to take an “Advantage Plan.” For me, it’s a PPO. I will now have to pay 20% copay on almost everything with 250 deductible and 1,000 out of pocket! The supplement is being dropped, so if we stay with Medicare, we have to look for another supplement! We must sign up by Dec. 14th or lose the Advantage Plan, which for me is United Health Care. All IL. teachers over 65 must sigh up or search for a supplement to Medicare. We still have to pay Medicare premiums as well as 45.00 a month for this United Health Care plan. Whew! I sure never expected to lose my Teacher’s Retirement Supplement. Thanks, Obama!!!!
